Creative Ideas for the Kids Holiday Table

Creative Ideas for the Kids Holiday Table
For many kiddos, the holiday "kids table" means sitting away from adults and watching the fun from afar. But with a few simple decorations and crafts, you can set up a kids table to keep the little ones busy and having fun! To start, I like to cover their table with white art paper. I'm all for a fancy holiday table, but it's so much more fun for kids to be able to color right on the tablecloth! Then I like to add a few splashes of color with paper napkins, bright glasses, or a healthy sprinkle of confetti. To keep the kids occupied before or after the holiday meal, I always set out a few fun crafts. This year, I made a super cute holiday color-in placemat (see below for free download!) using festive hand drawn clipart. I printed these out on cardstock, but you could go the extra step and laminate them with contact paper so you could color and erase them for re-use too. Our kiddos LOVED the placemats and colored them using Oodles of Doodles, 2 of A Kind Colored Pencils, and Triangle Colored Pencils. Cameron even grabbed a few of her stuffed animals to use as coloring models. They decided that they'd leave them with a plate of cookies for Santa and I think Santa will approve! Once they'd finished their placemats, they moved on to making and baking their own erasers with the Creatibles DIY Eraser Kit. They started out making monster erasers and then took it back to the winter season by building all kinds of cute snowmen. While their erasers baked in the oven, they took time personalizing their Stitch & Sketch Cover Sketchbooks. Cameron is sewing obsessed lately, so this project was tailor made for her! I really loved that the directions came with both pre-made shape templates and a blank template for the kids to sketch their own. And Kane liked that you could do and redo the cover too. They'd be perfect stocking stuffers! Our kids spent the better part of an afternoon working on these projects while listening to some holiday tunes. So I'm sure the projects would be the perfect way to make the holidays extra special for your kiddos. Download the holiday color-in placemat here. The file is set for borderless printing. If your printer doesn't have that option, you can print as a smaller percentage to fit it all on one page.
