Spooky and Sweet: DIY Air Dry Clay Ghosts in a Bottle

Using OOLY Creatibles Air Dry Clay and colorful markers, you’ll bring a little ghost to life. Whether you’re prepping for Halloween or just looking for a creative afternoon activity, this craft is sure to be a spooktacular hit. Let’s get crafting and make some ghostly magic! 👻

Small glass bottle with cork lid
Thin crafting or jewelry wire
Faux spiderwebs or cotton balls
Star garland or glitter (optional)

Directions:

Step 1: Start by picking your favorite color from the OOLY Creatibles Deluxe Air Dry Clay set. Roll a small piece into a ball, then shape it into a ghost using the tools provided by forming a rounded top with a wavy bottom. This step is perfect for little hands, making it an easy craft for kids to enjoy. The clay is soft and easy to mold, so kids can really get creative with their ghost shapes!

Step 2: To make your ghost appear to float inside the bottle, insert a thin wire into the bottom of the ghost. This wire will help suspend the ghost within the jar, giving the illusion that it’s hovering. Make sure to measure your wire so that your ghost and the clay bottom will fit nicely in the glass jar.

Step 3: Take another small amount of air dry clay and attach to the other end of the floral wire. The bottom of the clay (or base) should be flat, so that it will stand up inside the bottle. Let the clay air dry overnight.

Step 4: Once the clay is dry, give your ghost a personality by drawing on a face with OOLY The Ink Works Markers and add some sparkle with OOLY Rainbow Sparkle Markers. Whether your ghost is happy, sleepy, or spooky, these fine-tipped markers allow you to add detailed expressions easily. This is another part of the project that kids will love, as they can let their imaginations run wild!

Step 5: Take a piece of faux spiderweb (or pull apart a cotton ball) and wrap it around the clay base to cover it. This creates a cloud-like effect for your ghost to "float" on.

Step 6: Fill the bottom of your glass bottle with pieces of star garland or glitter for added sparkle. Or, add a strand of LED fairy string lights for an added twinkle effect in the evening!

Step 7: Gently place your ghost inside the bottle, adjusting any garland or cotton, and secure the cork lid. Your Pet Ghost in a Bottle is now ready to display!
