Ebony Glenn

Ebony Glenn is a children’s book illustrator whose whimsical and expressive imagery can be found in Mommy’s Khimar and Flying High: The Story of Simone Biles. Vanessa Brantley Newton

Vanessa Brantley Newton studied fashion and children’s illustration at FIT and SVA, and loves to add unique touches to her work, including mixed media accents, collage, and hand lettering. Growing up, she was part of a diverse, tight-knit community during turbulent times of the Civil Rights movement, and learned the importance of acceptance and empowerment in shaping a young person’s life. Reading Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, was the first time she saw herself in a children’s book, and that experience proved to be a defining moment in making her into the artist she is today. Vanessa includes children of all ethnic backgrounds in her artwork so all children can see their unique experiences reflected in the books they read, and can feel the same sense of empowerment and recognition she experienced as a young reader. Reginald Brown

Reginald Brown is an illustrator of picture books for children who loves drawing vivid scenes of Black children and families that include expressive, unforgettable characters that make children and adults want to read and re-read those stories. He also has a passion for stories with genres like fantasy, superheroes, and science-fiction, and believes it’s time for a wider array of skin tones to be represented in joyful stories. Ashleigh Corrin

Ashleigh Corrin is an award-winning children's book illustrator and graphic designer, whose debut illustrated book, Layla's Happiness, written by Mariahdessa Ekere Tallie, received the 2019 Ezra Jack Keats Awards for illustration and writing. A mentoring program for girls of color whose vision is to see equity and inclusion for teen girls of color in higher education and priority sector employment. Teachers and schools across the nation are asking for help to provide resources and training that will allow teachers to better support students of color.
